 David K. Fried wrote his first essay in second grade. After days of hard work and meticulous preparation, he brought it to his father to proofread. Fifteen minutes later, he was on the floor in tears, begging his father to stop. The pages he had worked so diligently to fill now had more red ink on them than black, and he would eventually go back to the computer and hunt and peck his way to a complete rewrite of his first major paper.
By eighth grade David was proofreading his father’s work. He was also acting professionally on the London stage alongside Judd Hirsch in the London premier of Herb Gardner’s Conversations with My Father, directed by Alan Ayckbourn. In 1999 he began attending the University of Texas at Austin, where he studied Radio-TV-Film and English and took every opportunity to write anything and everything from plays to essays.
After graduating he spent three years as a Research Specialist and writer/editor for a healthcare consulting company, developing company presentations and ghost writing and editing articles and editorials for major medical journals. He also managed the delivery of all of the company’s Web content and company newsletters.
In early 2006 David went to work on Childhood, an animated sitcom created by the largest licensed t-shirt manufacturer in the world, based on a wildly successful line of merchandise. After a few months working on this and other projects, he created DKF Writing Services, a full service writing and editing company, offering his lifetime of writing and editing expertise to provide high quality, professional technical documentation, book writing and editing, proofreading, and other services for businesses and ambitious entrepreneurs.
Since then, he’s written for multimillion dollar corporations, start-up semiconductor manufacturers, Emmy® Award winners, motivational speakers, and everyone in between.
David Kassin Fried is co-author, with his father, of Ups & Downs: The (Mis)Adventures of a Crusty Old Fart and his Bouncy Son as they Trek Through the Alps.
